New Corvette ZR1X Is The Fastest American Production Car Ever
The Chevrolet Corvette is the premier American sports car icon. There is nothing that even comes close. When Chevrolet introduced the first-ever mid-engine Corvette in 2020, the world went “whoa” because nothing costing less than $100,000 had ever been this amazing. The new eighth-generation Corvette is still wowing everyone today.
Welcome, The Great ZR1
Chevrolet engineered the new Corvette ZR1 and ZR1X to be the absolute kings of the supercar hill. For hundreds of thousands of dollars less than anything from Italy or Germany, the ZR1 features a 5.5-liter twin-turbo LT7 V8 that delivers a staggering 1,064 horsepower and 828 lb-ft of torque. But the ZR1X uses the same motor, with the addition of the electric drive motor and all-wheel drive from the E-Ray, to bump power to 1,250.
Okay, Enough Stalling, How Fast Is the ZR1X??
In recent testing by Chevrolet, the team took both cars to a drag strip to determine how fast they could get through the quarter mile. On a prepped surface, which basically means a sticky drag strip, the ZR1X with the optional ZTK Performance Package got to 60 mph in 1.68 seconds and through the quarter in 8.675 seconds at 168 mph. That’s bona fide multi-million-dollar hypercar performance… for the starting price of $212,195. If you live your life a quarter mile at a time, this Corvette is for you.

ZTK Performance Package
Chevrolet specifically used a ZR1X with the available ZTK Performance Package. This package adds special stiffer suspension with Magnetic Selective Ride Control that can adapt to changing road conditions by reading the road every 10-15 milliseconds, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R ultra performance run-flat summer tires with 275/30ZR20s up front and 345/25/ZR21s in the rear, and Alcon carbon ceramic brakes that feature 10-piston front and 6-piston rear calipers and 16.5-inch rotors all around.

Is It Really Faster Than Cars Costing Millions of Dollars?
The ZR1X is faster than the $4.6 million Bugatti Tourbillon, $3.4 million Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut, and the $2.2 million Pininfarina Battista, among others.
How Fast Is It on the Street?
On an unprepped surface, like a regular street outside your house, Chevy recorded a 0-60 time of 1.89 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 8.99 seconds.
A Word from Chevrolet
“There are many different parts and subsystems on this car, with teams across the company responsible for them,” said Stefan Frick, Corvette Development Engineer and Test Driver. “We were all motivated by the mission to break into the eights – this is a powerful example of the in-house skill at GM, and the level of performance we developed into this car.”

Every C8 Corvette Is Really Fast
Every single car in the C8 Corvette lineup offers performance on par with the fastest super and hypercars in the world for a fraction of the price. Even the standard Corvette gets to 60 mph in less than 3 seconds, which is bonkers fast.
