Trax is MAMA’s “Favorite Affordable Vehicle”

The Midwest Automotive Media Association (MAMA) announced seven category winners for their favorite vehicle awards, and Barry’s Chevrolet is happy to announce that the Trax won their Affordable Vehicle category. All seven categories will now compete for the title of MAMA’s Favorite Vehicle for 2024.

The Midwest Automotive Media Association began in 1990 and comprises 273 automotive journalists and public relations professionals from across the US and Canada. Throughout the year, the automotive journalists individually test drive vehicles for their respective media organizations. Then, three times throughout the year, once in the spring and twice in the fall, they gather to survey these vehicles and compare notes. They voted on the category winners at the MAMA’s Favorites Fall Fest. 

In previous years, MAMA issued just two awards, one for Family Vehicle of the Year and another for Luxury Family Vehicle of the Year. Those awards remain but are now two out of seven award categories. The organization made the change to “recognize the diversity of vehicles available and of interest to the readers, viewers, and listeners of MAMA’s membership base.”

Candidates must be new, significantly changed, or redesigned, as is the case with Trax. The seven category winners were selected from over 100 possible candidates. 

“With more than 100 new, redesigned, or refreshed vehicles MAMA members could drive during 2023, it was time to assess the breadth and depth of product at each event and for the year as a whole,” said Robert Duffer, MAMA President. “You could say MAMA loves all of her vehicles equally, but everyone knows there’s only one MAMA’s Favorite.”

While MAMA did not state reasons for their selections, it is easy to understand why the Trax was awarded. The Trax increased in size and had a remarkable design change from soft and generic to sharp and dynamic. It is Chevrolet’s most affordable model line, with a starting MSRP of $21,495. Even the top-level 2RS and Activ grades start at just $24,995. And yet, Trax does not openly display its affordability with its dynamic Camaro-inspired face, upscale interior design, and versatility. It can comfortably seat five or carry up to 54.1 cubic feet of cargo and includes up-scale features such as:

• Chevy Safety Assist with six advanced safety and driver awareness technologies
• An 11-inch-diagonal screen on LT, 2RS, and ACTIV trims
• Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability
• LED headlamps
• 17-inch, 18-inch or 19-inch wheels
• Active Noise Cancellation

MAMA members will now vote on which finalist they will name as MAMA’s Favorite Vehicle of 2024. The winner will be announced on February 8th at the 2024 Chicago Auto Show during a breakfast hosted by MAMA.
