Silverado HD Adds the TrailBoss for 2025

In the 2024 model year, for the first time, all three of Chevrolet’s pickup truck lines, the Colorado, Silverado, and Silverado HD models, were available in the brand’s most off-road-focused form, the ZR2. Recognizing a market that seeks off-road capability but may not have the budget or spare time to fully appreciate a ZR2, the Colorado and Silverado have also had the Trail Boss grade, a step between a 4WD model and the ZR2 in off-road capability. Barry’s Chevrolet is pleased to announce that for the 2025 model year, a Trail Boss grade will be added to the Silverado HD model line.
In both LT and LTZ Flavors
Both 2025 4WD LT and LTZ trims will have a Trail Boss variant. That puts it squarely in the middle of the lineup, above the WT and Custom trims and below the ZR2 and High Country trims. As with the LT and LTZ trim levels, the standard engine will be the 6.6-liter gas V8, which produces 401 horsepower and LB-ft of torque. The 6.6-liter Duramax Diesel V8 is optional, which produces 470 horsepower and has an astounding 975 lb-ft of torque. An Allison 10-speed automatic transmission is paired with both engines.
The Z71 Off-Road Package that is currently available on the LT and LTZ will be standard on the Trail Boss, which will include:
- Off-road suspension with Rancho™ twin tube shocks
- Hill Descent Control
- Skid plates for all the vulnerable areas underneath
- 17” LT265/70R17E All-Terrain black wall spare tire.
Images indicate the Trail Boss will ride on 20-inch 6-split-spoke black wheels with BFGoodrich all-terrain tires. The images also show red recovery hooks and the current Dark Essentials Package, which features a black finish for both the 2500 HD badge and Chevrolet bowtie emblem on the grill. In addition to “Z71” badges on the front fenders, “Trail Boss” decals will decorate the bedsides and tailgate. There is no indication of any changes to the interior beyond what is provided by the LT and LTZ trims.
Other 2025 Silverado HD Changes
With so many changes for the 2024 model year, changes for the rest of the 2025 Silverado lineup are relatively few. Front and Rear Park Assist is now available on the WT, Custom, and LT trims and has become standard on the ZR2. The Dark Essentials Package will now be available on the Custom trim. The Midnight Edition Package includes a new 20-inch wheel design, and adaptive cruise control will be standard on the High Country Trim.
The Silverado HD Trail Boss can be expected to be added to Barry’s Chevrolet inventory in the summer of 2024. Prices and any additional features will be announced closer to that launch time.
