2025 Chevrolet Silverado EV vs the Competition

Like the Silverado, the Tesla Cybertruck is new, but its polarizing looks and expensive launch models have struggled to find mass appeal. The Cybertruck is for buyers who are drawn to the apex of the segment, where power and capability are more prized than frugality.

• The 2025 Chevy Silverado EV offers considerably more standard power and torque than the 2025 Tesla Cybertruck, with 645 horsepower and 765 pound-feet. The Cybertruck comes standard with just 593 hp and 525 lb-ft.
• While the range-topping Silverado RST offers less horsepower than the Cyberbeast (834 hp vs. 760 hp), the Silverado makes up the difference with an advantage in torque (785 lb-ft vs. 740 lb-ft).
• The standard Silverado EV Crew Cab can tow up to 12,500 pounds; the Cybertruck is limited to 11,000.
• Cabin space heavily favors the Silverado, which offers more head room, leg room, hip room, and shoulder room in both the front and rear rows.
• The Silverado EV offers a smaller turning circle (42.0 feet vs. 43.5 feet), making it easier to maneuver and park in tight spaces.
• Both the Silverado and Cybertruck offer similar bed lengths. The Tesla’s is 72.9 inches long, while the Silverado’s is 71.0 inches.

The Ford F-150 Lightning is perhaps the most conventional competitor to the Silverado EV. On the surface, the F-150 Lightning looks suspiciously like a standard F-150. That’s no bad thing. After all, the F-Series is the best-selling pickup nameplate in the world, and the Lightning offers many of the same advantages that make its gasoline- and hybrid-powered cousins such strong competitors, including segment-leading capability.

• The 2025 Silverado EV has more standard horsepower than the F-150 Lightning (645 hp vs. 452 hp) but less standard torque (765 lb-ft vs. 775 lb-ft).
• At the high end, the most powerful Silverado EV produces 760 horsepower to the Lightning’s 580. It offers more torque too (785 lb-ft vs. 775 lb-ft).
• The standard Silverado EV offers significantly more towing capacity than the standard F-150 Lightning, with a max of 12,500 pounds (vs. 10,000).
• The Silverado EV offers a much smaller turning circle (42.0 feet vs. 47.8 feet), making it easier to maneuver and park in tight spaces.
• The 2025 Silverado EV offers more first- and second-row leg room than the F-150 Lightning.
• The standard bed length on the 2025 Silverado EV is nearly four inches longer than the Lightning’s.

While the Rivian R1T was considered the wild child of the segment when it debuted in 2021, it’s now part the “old guard” of electric pickups. The R1T was just updated in 2025 to help it keep up with its competitors.

• The 2025 Silverado EV (645 horsepower) offers more standard power than the Rivian R1T (533 hp) and more torque (765 lb-ft vs. 610 lb-ft).
• Comparing optional powertrains gives the R1T the advantage in power. Its tri-motor variant produces 850 horsepower (vs. 760 for the Chevy) and 1,103 lb-ft of torque (vs. 785).
• Cabin space heavily favors the Silverado, which offers more leg room, hip room, and shoulder room in both the front and rear rows. Only second-row head room favors the Rivian (39.7 inches vs. 38.7 inches).
• The standard R1T offers more payload capacity than the Chevrolet, but that script flips when you opt for the high-performance, max-range versions of each truck, where the Silverado offers more than 200 pounds of additional payload capacity.
• Towing capacity is another win for the standard Silverado, which offers 12,500 pounds of trailering versus 11,000 for the Rivian.
